Well hello again, friends. Long time - no blog, I know! It's a new year now (happy happy, joy joy) - so let's just leave the long streak of blogging absence behind us and look forward to more frequent visits in 2011, shall we?

First up, pulling us right out from hibernation, is the mega-wedding-weekend of Jessica + Jonathan in Seaside, Florida this past July. What qualifies as a MEGA wedding weekend? Well, I suppose one where you photograph FOUR back-to-back(-to-back-to-back) separate wedding celebrations for one awesome couple! In just 3 days with these wonderful new friends we photographed a rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, welcome party, ladies luncheon (which dripped in Vera Bradley goodness!), and of course a fantastic wedding to top it all off! Add to the three day whirlwind a bridal session and engagement session earlier in the year, and Jessica + Jonathan win the award for most camera-time EVER! Gotta love that.

So without further adieu, I give you mega-wedding-weekend...

Seaside, Florida

The intimate rehearsal dinner was held at Bistro Bijoux in Baytowne Wharf in the Sandestin Resort.

The too-cute-for-words ladies luncheon was held at the Vera Bradley Inn by the Sea in Seaside, Florida. Jessica is an avid collector of all things Vera Bradley, so a girlie get-together here was her idea of wedding bliss!

I'm adoring the vintage 'head vases' here.... they remind me of the original Barbie dolls.

Getting all of the girlfriends together mere hours before the wedding day in such a sweet way gets my Smarty Pants Award. Love it!

The welcome party was up next... with everyone flying in for this destination wedding, hosting a casual dinner the night before the wedding for all guests was a thoughtful way to say thank you to family and friends for making the trip and gave the couple a little more face-time with their loved ones. The Love Shack in Santa Rosa Beach hosted the indoor-outdoor shindig.

Some guests (mostly kiddos) even enjoyed a dip in the pool - but I promised I wouldn't post any of that here ;)

Most of the world knows what a sucker I am for out of towner baskets - and this bucket version was one of my favorites. Filled with maps, brochures, and other goodies - the couple also included some Seaside swag for their guests, so they could return home with a souvenir (or four)!

And now we've come to the Big Day...(cue the choir of angels)

How fantastic is this family Bible, dating back to 1899?! Talk about Something OLD!

Jessica is an only child (like yours truly) and her close relationship with her Mom is something I could really relate to... there's nothing quite like that bond.

HOW COOL IS THIS?! As part of their outdoor reception display, J + J had these awesome collages printed on vinyl banners to hang around the tent. They included photos from their early years all the way up to present day - and even managed to sneak in a few engagement images throughout. SOOOOO snagging another Smarty Pants Award for that. (What? I'm feeling generous!)

How yumm-o is that golden light? Oh, and while I'm looking at it ... I'd like to praise the whole movement we've seen in the industry for quite some time now to incorporate actual furniture pieces into the wedding design. There's something about a sofa on the grass that feels incredibly special to me - not to mention cozy and inviting! Ah, what the hey, "another SMARTY PANTS AWAAAAAARD" (to be shouted, a la Oprah)!

bentleys on the bay

Loving the rocking sunsets and the subsequent vivid blue skies we've been getting at all of our Bentley's on the Bay weddings (Hello to the always lovely Laura & Alexa!)

A quick shout out of thanks to Jessica + Jonathan - AND Jan (how could I leave you out?!) - for having us with you for so many wonderful celebrations. It was a complete joy to get to know you and document the festivities... we do you hope you'll keep in touch. After all, I think we've likely become unofficial members of the extended family. Much love.

And before I forget, a quick note of thanks to Heather with Seaside Cottage Rental Agency for always making our job so E-A-S-Y.

Welcome back to our first day of coverage in Jamaica. We'll start off this three-day weekend with the rehearsal dinner of L + E* at the scenic Moon Dance Cliffs Resort. We managed to (just barely) escape the rain clouds for this outdoor soirée - which was lucky for us, because the views were so picturesque.

*Our clients are thrilled to have their wedding shared on the blog, but have requested that we not disclose their full names online as our groom is a law enforcement officer. Happy to oblige!

The groom's cake was a tribute to the Texaco gas station where these two first crossed paths many years ago.

We don't typically share rehearsal dinner images here, but as I was pulling images for tomorrow's part 1 flashback from Forrest + Ed's Wedding - I stumbled upon their rehearsal dinner and thought I'd share a few details from their Pensacola Beach event today. With the Holidays just around the corner, I am always looking for simple ways to 'use what I've got' for decorating the house and studio. Their centerpiece was a reminder to me to try taking some of my big glass vases and jars and lining them with a smaller vessel (to hold a candle, as seen here, or even water for a floral arrangement) and then in the space between the glasses, fill in with something seasonal. (Forrest used shells here to complete her beach look.) I'm thinking small colorful Christmas ornaments in a few short weeks - but for Thanksgiving perhaps feathers or leaves - or even fruit. For something even more theme-y, maybe dried beans or corn or mini gourds - or what about cranberries, even?

Meg and I made a trip to Montgomery, Alabama over the 2008 4th of July weekend for the charming Southern wedding of Charlotte + Sean. On the evening of the 4th, they hosted a lovely rehearsal dinner complete with an end-of-the-night fireworks show! Enjoy the pre-wedding festivities for now - be sure to check back tomorrow, when we unveil their big day.

What do you get when you combine a sunset cruise on two private catamarans, a lobster bake for eighty, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows? I call it perfection. Lauren & Tony invited us to join them in St Thomas a couple of days early for the pre-wedding festivities in the US Virgin Islands. Too dreamy for words... I've pulled a few scenic shots to get you in the mood for tomorrow's big wedding day reveal!

Welcome Cruise

May 22, 2008

St. Thomas, USVI

The Ritz-Carlton in the US Virgin Islands owns & operates their own private fleet of catamarans. Chatting with the crew was a great experience, and watching the sunset was just this side of magical.

Lauren & Tony hosted a lobster bake the following day for all of their friends & family. I'm talking open charcoal lobster grilling, the sea breeze blowing in off the water, palm trees quietly stirring in the air. Take me away!

The night ended with a marshmallow roast for the kiddos. There were many flaming dessert items served up by the little monsters. They were especially energetic because Lauren had outfitted them with pirate chests full of frightful items they used to complete their "evening attire" (note the pirate hat at 2 o'clock).
