Okay kids - just a quick note tonight, as I sit here with a freshly washed face ... I have to share my absolute love affair that I've had going for several months now with all things Olay Daily Facials. My mom introduced me to these fantastic cleansing cloths during some girl talk about breakouts + traveling, both of which I've done an awful lot of recently. Now your skin and my skin might react differently to these handy little wipes, so use at your own risk - but my personal experience earns these a (not-so-sought-after) Bees Knees Award.
The cloths come in different formats (wet, dry...) and different formulas (oily, sensitive ...) - but my preference is pictured below on the left. They are dry (just add water!), pack easily, and the wipe itself has a slightly 'coarse' side to help with gentle exfoliation. If you check them out, let me know what you think. Also, if you have some favorite beauty picks you want to share with the world, add a comment below. G'night! |

I've got to take a minute to introduce this most incredible band - perhaps some of you have heard of them... Rockin' Dopsie, Jr. & The Zydeco Twisters. We've had the privilege of working with this talented group before (at the wedding of Kristi + Taylor - more on that later) and we think they're the Bees Knees. Check out their website for the full 411, but I've found a few nice reviews on what makes Dopsie, Jr. so special:
"He's boogied with James Brown, packed the House of Blues, played at the White House, and traveled to more cities than a Greyhound. Critics hail him as one of zydeco's most cherished symbols and a party seems to break out whenever and wherever he and his band show up." - American Press
Squeeze, a magazine dedicated to zydeco and its culture writes...
"He is considered to be the best rub board player in the world. His dancing, splits, and audience participation antics make the band performance exciting and keep audiences involved and dancing." |

The band started out nice and slow as Mom danced with Wesley...

and Kate danced with her father...

But when the formal dances were done, they really got the party going!

There were huge crowds surrounding the dancefloor...

even some standing on chairs, trying to get a peek at the action.

When all of the guys in the bridal party were called on the dance floor for a dance-off with the band, one of Kate's brothers was feeling a little shy and needed a bit of coaxing.

This is just one of Wesley's brothers, Chip - we'll be photographing his wedding this December!

Even the little ones got in on the action.

This little guy was such a huge hit that Dopsie, Jr. personally invited him to come and dance with him onstage at an upcoming concert!

This is the father of the groom sliding across the floor and under his old college roommate, who was the 'bridge' in this move.

This is Kristi getting DOWN - we shot this lovely ladies wedding at the beginning of the year when she married Wesley's other brother, Taylor. Now, for those of you keeping track - that will be ALL 3 BROTHERS getting married in the SAME calendar year - and we have been given the immense honor of photographing each of their weddings! I think that practically makes us family, now don't you? ;)

THIS is just one reason why Dopsie, Jr. is probably the best performer I've had the opportunity to see live...

Here are our three brothers/grooms (from left to right) - Chip, Taylor, and Wesley.

It was such a nice cake until...

... they went and did THIS! (Apparently, this is an inside thing between dad and his three sons - I'll try and get the whole story next time)

Thank you for having us, guys - Meg and I are really looking forward to seeing you all again in December!

A few months ago we lost our beloved Brittany to the military when her husband, Nick, was reassigned. Brittany was our very first 'real' employee - that's what we always said. She managed to work her way into every part of our little company, making a positive impact in our workplace and in our hearts.
Over the course of two years we grew quite close - and I can honestly say that there has not been a day that has gone by since she left us in July that I have not missed my friend. As they prepare for a 3 year tour in Japan, we say 'Sayonara' to the Holmans and also 'We'll see you again soon.' (Anyone know someone getting married in Tokyo in 2012, perhaps?)
With the news of Brittany's departure, Charles and I knew we would have to search high and low to find the perfect person to fill the void. We finally found everything we were looking for (and then some!) in a soft-spoken Jamie out of Port St Lucie, FL. That's a long commute to and from work, I know - so we first had the (simple) task of convincing Jamie & her husband Joe to relocate to Jamie's hometown of Pensacola. Luckily, the couple was ready for a change and had their sights set on living closer to Jamie's family (also in Pcola), so this was an easy sell.
Four months ago I never would have guessed that someone could bring as much creativity and balance to our lives as Jamie lends us every day. With her crazy mad graphic design skills and meticulous hand, she has certainly found her place here. As an added who-could've-planned-that-better bonus, we happen to adore Jamie + Joe personally and are excited to spend even more time with our new friends as they begin their future in Pensacola.
So now, without further ado, it is with great excitement that I introduce our cute-as-a-button graphic designer, Jamie.
We think that she's the bee's knees: |
