We kicked off May 2010 with the Jacksonville wedding of Maddie + Mark. We met these two lovebirds through our good friends, and past clients, Valerie + Ryan - who you'll see a little later on. (Mark was a groomsman in Valerie & Ryan's wedding.) Being asked to shoot their wedding was like getting invited to eat at the cool kids table - we were so excited to be invited back into this circle of friends!

Their garage is devoted to Mark's other love - his motorcycle - so this was a fitting cake topper!

And perhaps the funniest thing I have EVER seen in some 200+ weddings ... the girls did an impromptu routine to the Backstreet Boys - HYSTERICAL! We also taped a little video of this gem - so I'll see if we can throw that up here soon...

It's good to be married to someone who keeps you laughing... or for Ryan, someone who keeps laughing at his jokes ;)

All in all, a really fun day that we were so thrilled to have been a part of - thanks to our new friends for having us!

Rebecka + Andy tied the knot this past April with a sun-soaked wedding ceremony at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, FL. After booking yours truly to photograph her wedding, Rebecka made a great decision and added my trusty sidekick MJ of Michael B Johnston Photography to the package.

I have to thank the entire crew at Nancy's Haute Affairs for making everything at this wedding flow perfectly. Gus & Melissa - terrific job! We recommend Nancy's Haute Affairs on our wedding vendors we love page.

Check out the adorable seating guide for the guests.

Rebecka had a unique idea for her reception - dueling pianos! She booked the incredible team from Seville Quarter, and made sure each guest was in on the action with custom song request booklets doubling as placecards.

The guests treated themselves to a decadent ice cream bar in lieu of a traditional groom's cake.

Rebecka + Andy incorporated sparklers...but not in a traditional way. They asked their guests to illuminate their first dance with sparklers all around the dancefloor!

Rebecka's mom helped her design this absolutely fantastic photo booth. I heard a rumor that Rebecka is taking her show on the road. So for all of you Meg Baisden bride's out there - if you need a photo booth for your reception, shoot me an email & we'll make sure Rebecka gets the message.

Congratulations to the newlyweds. It was an honor to part of your gorgeous wedding day!

As you might've guessed - we were banished to the balconey for the service - well, not just us, ALL photo & video - church rules and all that jazz. But it was a really lovely service, despite the lack of photo opps.

Kati booked with our studio over two years prior to her big day - and along the way y'all have seen them on the blog for their engagement session and bridal session - and a few of you have even had the pleasure of meeting Kati! It goes without saying that we were *SO* excited for Kati + Troy's wedding day to finally roll around.

The morning started off at the International House - a lovely boutique hotel in New Orleans. Meg has a longtime love affair with chandeliers... (the ones in our house are borderline ridiculous!) and then combined with a pair of "pretty-pretty" pumps... what else does a photographer need?

Some more bling...

Soon-to-be MRS.

Sisters.

Kati - you were a stunning bride.

Was it something I said?

Since I am running the show for this post - I'm sharing two shots from the often-overlooked guys prep ;)

Following their first sight...

Meg really loved that chandelier - which, it turns out, really worked with the decor of the day - wait until we get to the reception!

The ceremony was all about the softer shades of blue - but they kicked up the intensity & drama for the nighttime.

The ceremony was held at the world-famous landmark: the St Louis Cathedral in the heart of New Orleans. Locals have been worshipping and marrying at this historic site since 1727! While the structure has changed multiple times over the years, there is something incredibly powerful about exchanging vows on grounds that so many have come to pray and unite...

With churches this grand, there is really no need for added decoration - but Kati managed to sneak in a little extra sparkle for her walk down the aisle.

The candlelit reception was held at the New Orleans Board of Trade - with cocktail hour kicking the party off in the courtyard.

I'm including a ton of recption detail shots because my wife told me to. She seems to think that our readers might enjoy this type of stuff :)

Meg was completely enamoured with this blinged-out cake stand and these crystal fluer-de-lis charms.

The lighting was fan-tastic...

A closer look.

One of the prettiest cake tables I have ever seen. I'm giving it a Smarty Pants Award just for being totally fabulous.

First dance series...

Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler = Let the Good Times Roll!

And what would a New Orleans reception be without a second line through the Quarter?

The Storyville Stompers led the parade through the streets of downtown NOLA.

Playing with a little motion now...

It truely was the perfect end to a perfect day. Thanks for having us, guys!

Also, a quick shout out to Emily & Valerie over at Get Polished Events for making everything (& everyONE!) picture-perfect and, as always, making our job easier! If you are planning a New Orleans area wedding, hurry on over to get on their calendar - they are deservedly sought-after New Orleans event planners!

Oh, and just a reminder - remember to keep voting for your favorites and telling us what you love!

Last month Charles and I took a drive over to Plaquemine, Louisiana to photograph the picturesque southern wedding of Reily & Doug. The ceremony was held in the garden beside the family home that was once occupied by Reily's grandparents. Reily spent many weekends in her childhood attending family weddings and celebrations at this former plantation, dreaming of the day she would have her own 'backyard' wedding...

As a lover of vintage books, this might go down as my favorite shoe shot - ever.
