wedding: taylor & stuart - jacksonville, fl

Today I'm excited to share the picturesque Jacksonville, Florida wedding of Taylor + Stuart. We met Taylor back several years ago at the Tampa wedding of her big brother MacKay and sister-in-law Lauren, who now have a baby girl! It's always so exciting to see past MBP clients at weddings - and even more exciting to earn the trust and confidence of families that hire us again and again. As if knowing these two through their Tallahassee engagement session wasn't motivation enough to bring our 'A game' on their wedding day - we knew everyone else also had high expectations - so we really wanted to deliver...

How fantastic are the red doors of the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville?

As with most church ceremonies, we were restricted to the back of church - but even from our far-away seats, you could see Stuart's smile as Taylor walked down the aisle...

The reception was held at the oh-so-beautiful Epping Forest Yacht Club.

This shot makes me smile - all former Meg Baisden Photography newlyweds! From left to right ... Drew + Lindsay (St Augustine, FL - April 2009), Stuart + Taylor (Jacksonville, FL - June 2010), and Lauren + MacKay (Tampa, FL - September 2007). Happy happy happy.

Taylor is just one of the kindest women... it's cliche, I know - but as beautiful inside as out.

First dance.

Wedding Mad Libs = CUTE!

T+S had really great food stations dotting the reception - everything from freshly prepared stir-fries to custom pasta dishes, made to order. YUM!

We've seen lots of ice cream at weddings these past two years - from passed cones to build-your-own-sundae bars - this is one trend I am totally digging!

With Dad...

Taylor is our ... well, I don't know ....at least 6th - but I think it's more than that - Alpha Delta Pi bride from Florida State University. We've had the wonderful honor to find a mini-fan club of ADPI Seminoles over the years that we continue to receive referrals through and (my favorite) run into at weddings... These fellow FSU alums have been such a wonderful blessing to our business over the years - a shout out of recognition here is the very least I can do to say THANK YOU for your continued support...

Sorority Circle...

Stuart, you are now an honorary ADPI!

*LOVE* it!

Thanks so much for bringing us back into your lives for another special day - it was such an honor!

xoxo,
Meg + Charles

wedding: kara & jake - jackson, ms

Hello lovelies! I wanted to kick off this week with the oh-so-sweet wedding of Kara + Jake from Jackson, MS. Although I only had the privilege of spending one (happy) day with these lovebirds, I can attest that these two just ooze warmth and love. They were wonderful to photograph and my day only got better when we teamed up with the fantastically talented team over at Feria Cinematic out of Nashville - who were brought in to create a killer wedding video. I couldn't endorse these guys enough... after watching them in action, I think Charles is ready to jump ship with me and see if they'd let him carry their bags if he would agree to move to Tennessee! I've linked to it just now, but do go and check out the awesome sneak peek video the guys blogged from their time with Kara + Jake.

hot off the press: maddie & mark

We kicked off May 2010 with the Jacksonville wedding of Maddie + Mark. We met these two lovebirds through our good friends, and past clients, Valerie + Ryan - who you'll see a little later on. (Mark was a groomsman in Valerie & Ryan's wedding.) Being asked to shoot their wedding was like getting invited to eat at the cool kids table - we were so excited to be invited back into this circle of friends!

Maddie + Mark are both runners and named each table after a run they completed together... and there were A LOT of tables!

Their garage is devoted to Mark's other love - his motorcycle - so this was a fitting cake topper!

And perhaps the funniest thing I have EVER seen in some 200+ weddings ... the girls did an impromptu routine to the Backstreet Boys - HYSTERICAL! We also taped a little video of this gem - so I'll see if we can throw that up here soon...

It's good to be married to someone who keeps you laughing... or for Ryan, someone who keeps laughing at his jokes ;)

All in all, a really fun day that we were so thrilled to have been a part of - thanks to our new friends for having us!

hot off the press: magen & allan

We're so excited to share the images from Magen + Allan's wedding in New Orleans. We've come to LOVE Magen - she's the most energetic, passionate bride we've ever met! (We love you, too Allan - but we came to know Mags first during the planning process and she stole our hearts!)

A little (or not-so-little!) bling to start the morning.

This was a very cool angle that Meg sniffed out - four hands at once!

The New Orleans street made for a great backdrop behind the wedding dress.

Christian Louboutin provided something blue. And isn't Magen radiant?!

Pretty flowers all in a row... my Meg really loved the jeweled fleur de lis pinned to Magen's bouquet.

While Magen was working with Meg on her bridal portraits, Allan & the boys were hanging out on the street level waiting for the ceremony to begin.

A stunning view of the ballroom at the Bourbon Orleans New Orleans.

More of Magen while we are at it... we rarely have more than a minute or two for photos of the bride alone on the wedding day - but with Magen running right on schedule, my Meg had some playtime with the bride. Lucky for us all, they found this lovely open ballroom for a fitting backdrop.

We found a vintage sofa tucked away in a corner & just couldn't resist using it.

Magen hanging out in the window overlooking the French Quarter.

That is Meg's mom and mother-in-law hanging out with the ladies...on their way to the ceremony!

Nothing says New Orleans like a saxophone to guide the bride down the aisle.

An emotional first sight.

The entire ceremony was covered in an orangey afternoon glow.

What a perfect setting for a wedding - in Jackson Square with the incredible St. Louis Cathedral as the backdrop.

After the vows were complete, Mags led the bridal party & all of their guests around the French Quarter in a traditional New Orleans second line.

We've seen Smitty Dee's at three different second line processionals now. It's always a party when they lead the line.

During the second line through the French Quarter, the group happened upon several street performers.

Strangers lined balconies to see the parade go by - tossing Mardi Gras beads to the guests!

After the second line, the guests were ushered into the reception, and we stole a few moments with the bride & groom.

There's that gorgeous ceremony light again.

Just can't get enough of those Louboutin's.

We started off the night with dancing - Allan with his mom...

... and Magen with her dad.

We had the pleasure of working with a truly amazing "southern rock" party band hailing from Memphis, TN called The Super Five. I'm pretty sure Megan & Allan knew them from their college days - and let me tell you...they were amazing! Check out their website, and if you need a wedding band, HIRE THEM! I'd love to see these guys again - they were awesome.

And while I am giving a few shout-outs, I have to mention the fantastically talented ladies over at Get Polished. Emily and Valerie rocked this wedding, as usual and are (as always) most highly recommended to any New Orleans soon-to-be-wed.

How about some southern mason jars as wedding favors? These were filled grits and included a recipe for the yummy shrimp & grits - served at the reception. Smarty Pants!

The only drawback to their cute favors - the grits were incorporated into the sendoff... leaving a very messy bride & groom!

Congratulations you two! We love you!!!

hot off the press: stephanie & paul

Happy Monday, Readers! We're kicking off this week right with our newest wedding - Hot Off the Press! Enjoy the lovely Pensacola wedding of Stephanie + Paul.

A handsome couple.

Charles' take on the lighting of the unity candle. I dig it.

All smiles.

We had about 15 minutes with the newlyweds and bridal party following church formals and before their grand entrance into the reception (following cocktail hour.) We put our time to good use at a nearby office park downtown. I'm a huge fan of the colors and architecture!

Then it was onto a beautifully decorated Jackson's for dinner and dancing.

Stephanie carried her color palette of black and white with bold pops of green throughout the space...

...including this totally FAB candy and dessert bar. This gets a smarty pants award for being the best execution EVER!

How great are these cakes?!

A festive confetti poppers send-off to end the night with a bang! Congratulations Newlyweds!
