hot off the press: samantha & adam

Happy Friday, friends. Today I've got some more eye candy for you with the Tallahassee wedding of Samantha + Adam. Their drool-worthy getaway car is not to be missed!

How precious are these little flowergirls?!

So I have this thing for stained glass...

...perhaps because I never attended a church with stained glass windows, I've always found them captivating...

And these were ENORMOUS - check it:

As you might've guessed - we were banished to the balconey for the service - well, not just us, ALL photo & video - church rules and all that jazz. But it was a really lovely service, despite the lack of photo opps.

JUST married.

Since we didn't have any real 'getting ready' coverage - Samantha made a special request that I do "ya know, one of your awesome shoe shots!" I took several...

AND HOW ABOUT THIS CAR?!

LOVE IT! My shot on the left, Charles' on the right...

We only had a few moments with this car before the newlyweds were ushered into their reception - but I just adore these photos. Something about a cherry red vintage car and a bride and groom .... YUM!

Toasting his bride . I particularly love the slideshow playing on a big screen in the background - so they are, essentially, watching themselves. :)

Fun with sparklers. (You have no idea how many sparklers they burned through trying to get this right!)

Thanks to the newlyweds for inviting us to be a part of your engagement and wedding! xoxo, Meg

hot off the press: jenyne & jeff - part 1

This February we had the great opportunity to travel with our friends Jenyne & Jeff to Park City, Utah to document their winter wedding weekend (say that 10 times fast!) There's so much to share that was lovely that I'll be breaking this into three parts. First up - Day 1! (welllllll... a few of these are from the end of trip - but they all fall into the personal and/or scenic category - so I'm lumping them together here.)

Our introduction to this magical place...

Park City, UT

We passed this scene every day on our way to Deer Valley - where the wedding activities were held. It was just too perfect to pass up!

This was our coldest day - filled with non-stop snow!. (This trip was Charles' FIRST TIME seeing snow! Well, aside from a small flurry of nothingness in Tallahassee back in college...) The rest of our trip was filled with mostly blue skies and sunshine...

Like this :)

Wouldn't this be a beautiful place for a ceremony, surrounded by snow-capped mountains year-round?

Looking out from Deer Valley Resort.

And because you all say we never post personal pictures (with good reason, ahem!) - here we are in our *matching* coats - LOL! (Charles is going to kill me for sharing this - he wouldn't let us wear them at the same time except for this picture!)

And my (*cough* heavily retouched *cough*) mug. WHAT?! Don't you believe that I have perfect skin and incredibly bright sparkling eyes?! ;)

While we were in Park City we managed to squeeze in sledding, skiing, and two snowmobiling trips - all safely following the wedding day, just in case ;)

And since we are never in a photo together on these trips - this has become a new tradition...

Stay tuned for tomorrow's post where you'll finally meet our newlyweds!

hot off the press: kristen & stephen

From New Year's Eve to New Year's Day - we rang in the new year in a BIG way with two fantastic couples! Today I wanted to share a glimpse into part two of our whirlwind weekend. Kristen + Stephen tied to knot on New Year's Day 2010 - how's *marriage* for a new year's resolution?! :)

On with the show...

A family heirloom.

Kristen + Stephen

Wedding

Tallahassee, FL

Two photographers, one moment.

The ceremony was held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee, FL and featured SEVEN priests! Kristen + Stephen met during a spiritual retreat and were blessed to be married by the close friends and church leaders who brought them together.

Kristen's dad embracing his new son at the altar.

Doesn't the face just say it all?

Among the speeches deliver throughout the day, Kristen's father said a few words during the service that even had me choked up. I glanced across the sanctuary to my wife, to see her look up from the camera, having just taken this photograph - to see her face tear-stained as well...

With mom.

Parent dances are another highlight of any wedding day. I know we only have a dog, and one can't really fathom parenthood until you are actually 'in the club' - but this kind of emotion is so easy to grasp.

And I'm including this image as a little teaser to an upcoming post - there's a clue in here that should give you a hint about where we are blogging from right now. You'll have to keep coming back to learn more :)

TGIF, everyone :)

To kick off your weekend in STYLE, we are sharing the *gorgeous* New Orleans wedding of Valerie + Davey! I'm loving this nighttime soiree so much that I figured we'd just share their entire client website/slideshow with you as an added bonus. MRS.Valerie has a real thing for fashion (I've never seen her without a pair of fantastic pumps) and is all about the drama of a New Orleans wedding - even the POURING rain and FLOODED streets couldn't put a damper on her plans.

You can scroll down the page to vote for some favorites - but the real magic is in the photo below. Click on the image to launch their custom client slideshow/website. This is a feature we've been building since 2008 (hey, we don't get a ton of free time around here!) - and are finally ready to announce will be included in all 2010 wedding packages, effective immediately ;) Inside, you can click on the 'highlights' link to launch their full wedding highlights slideshow - and enjoy all 180-something images! So, I guess this would also qualify as another 100:1 post, as well. See there - TGIF, indeed!

Valerie + Davey

Wedding

December 12, 2009

New Orleans, LA

The view from Valerie's hotel room. That church to the right is the Immaculate Conception where the ceremony was held.

That's a peacock-feather encased bridal bouquet - *swoon* - next to some foot jewelry.

new orleans wedding photography

Valerie looks great posing for the camera, which you've already seen in her bridal session, but this low-light candid is perhaps my favorite...

First sight <3

The bustling hotel lobby was too pretty with all of the twinkle lights to ignore. We stopped for just a moment to snag a few...

With the rain hammering everything it touched outside, we found a vacant ballroom to use for pre-ceremony formals.

I like the mirrored image here...

Isn't the church just STUNNING?!

One of my favorites! Now, in Davey's defense - Catholic masses can be very L_O_N_G.

A second line led by a New Orleans brass band was scheduled to parade the guests from the church to the streetcars and transport everyone to the reception - but with the weather and the flooding grounding the streetcars, a bus was brought in at the last minute to transport the (only slightly damp) guests and bridal party over to the Elms Mansion for dinner & dancing.

First dance as husband & wife...

An emotional dance with Dad.

Another personal favorite.

Charm pulls are also very New Orleans.

Have you ever seen a Mardi Gras Indian before? Now you have!

Gotta share this image so you can see the wardrobe change - looking good, Valerie.

This was such a fun way to send the newlyweds off - smarty pants award for originality!

Many thanks to Emily Sullivan of Get Polished Events - their fantastic wedding planner - who kept the day running smoothly and the vendors happy and fed! :)

Last but never least, I need to say a HUGE thank you as well to our good friends and talented photographers (not to mention past clients!) Michael Johnston from Tallahassee, FL and John Flatt from Lafayette, LA - who accompanied us on this very wet day and both contributed beautifully to the coverage of the day. You'll see some real gems from both guys in the 'highlights slideshow' up top. Thanks guys!

(And a sidenote to our longtime readers - thought you'd appreciate the updates on both families - April & Michael are very pregnant with baby #2, and Sheri & John recently welcomed their first - a beautiful baby girl (I held her!!) Morgan into their happy home!)

engagement: taylor + stuart

Taylor & Stuart come from a long line of Seminoles, so they know Meg Baisden couples all over the south. On top of that, Taylor is the sister of Mackay. We photographed Lauren & Mackay's wedding during September 2007 down in Tampa, FL. We're tickled to have you two on board for our 2010 season!
