October 2006

We met Karen & Paul through another one of our couples April and Michael - or - was it Kimbril and Doug? Kind of like a chicken or the egg thing… but, either way, they are all friends and all new friends of ours!

Now, I have to tell on Karen here - because it really is too funny… Karen and I spoke a few times about their engagement session in the weeks leading up to the shoot - and every time we spoke she would mention to me how “Paul” was a little nervous or how “Paul” wasn’t photogenic or how “Paul” might need a drink before the shoot to relax him a little. What a little liar she turned out to be!! :) It became obvious right away that KAREN was the nervous subject; Paul, go figure, was cool as a cucumber! LOL. No worries, though - we worked right through “Paul’s issues” - eh, Karen? ;)

We spent the afternoon at St Theresa Beach (right near Apalachicola for the locationally challenged!) - where these two met, and later, where Paul popped the question. We also had the great pleasure of meeting their two furbabies - pictured throughout the session, as you can see here:

Looking forward to the wedding in 2007!

As some of you might already know, we are in beautiful Savannah, GA right now enjoying the sights and local cuisine this week leading up to our wedding in Hilton Head, SC on Saturday. (*so excited*) This is a pretty big deal for us - being out of the office during the week. This must be the first “weekend” (smack in the middle of a work week!) we’ve had in… well, forever almost. So we had the week all planned out - lunch at Paula Deen’s Lady & Sons, shopping in City Market, a walking tour, etc… And I just realized that the Project Runway Season Finale is tomorrow! ACK!!

Somehow in my excitement I completely forgot about the finale! (I have been watching this series religiously since the pilot episode of the first season.) So instead of spending our evening out on the town, we will be ordering in and curling up to tune into Bravo.

Charles is so great - so understanding; I asked him if he would be upset if we skipped an evening out and opt for PR instead and he says to me “of course not - you are like a (PR) junkie. You need that fix. I am simply your enabler.” I thought about it for a second, then asked “so, you’re kinda like my dealer then?” “Something like that” he said.

So this addict will be on the edge of her King size bed in Savannah, GA tomorrow evening. Anyone else watching?

We love these guys! We met with them while on assignment in St Augustine at a little coffee shop and talked and talked about their wedding, our dogs, marriage… and now they are married! It was gorgeous - this was our first time working at The Club Continental in Jacksonville, Florida - and we are ready to go back! (Anyone? Anyone?) It was seriously gorgeous - and my only regret is that we weren’t able to spend more daylight hours there exploring all of the amazing photo possibilities!

NOTE: This wedding was part of my experiment using only available light whenever possible - so all of these images were shot with existing light. No flash was used throughout the day - with the exception of a handful of altar formals and, of course, some reception coverage.

WHEW! What a day!! We just walked in the door - back in our room following Laura & Josh’s Tallahassee wedding and I am on cloud 9 right now. Kind of a funny way to describe a “shoot” - I know - but it seems appropriate. I’ve always heard that term used when someone described something like a first date or the first time they heard the words “I love you” or even “will you marry me?” But it fits here - I AM in love; I love my job, my husband, our awesome clients - I am on cloud 9!

I saw some old friends from high school tonight at the wedding - again, SUCH a small world! (Shout out to Leslie, Penelope, and Megan - GO WILDCATS - LOL!) And I was talking with Leslie at the end of the night about being a photographer (she knew me when I thought I was destined for B’way!) and I realized in talking with her just how awesome my life is! I have been so… blessed. Blessed to be doing what I want with my life, exactly the way I want to do it, working side-by-side with my husband and partner in crime… And sometimes we get so busy, I think, it is hard to enjoy all of life’s little blessings. But tonight, catching up with old friends, it really all snapped back into perspective for me…

Cloud 9 - A fitting title, indeed.

I love the dynamics between these two brand-spankin’-new Newlyweds!

We shot these two in between rainstorms in Seaside, Florida the day after they exchanged nuptials on the beach:
