St. Augustine, Florida

Who: Melissa & Adam
What: Wedding Day
When: February 24, 2007
Where: Lightner Museum & Courtyard for the ceremony
AND Casa Monica Hotel in St Augustine, FL for the reception

I was going to type up a whole long thing about how awesome this wedding was (which it totally was) and how great these two are (seriously cool) and talk about how pretty everything was (quite pretty) and all the attention to detail, etc… but then I just got this email from Melissa - she must’ve known I was thinking about them because as I was typing earlier I could hear the little “new mail” ding from my other computer and I saw this…

Meg and Charles,

Words cannot begin to describe how amazingly beautiful our wedding pictures turned out! From the second I saw your website I knew that I had to have you for my wedding. I wouldn’t settle for anything less and I am so glad that I didn’t! During the planning process everyone would ask me if I was getting excited and to be honest, all I could say was that I was looking forward to the pictures! You and Charles did not disappoint and actually exceeded our expectations! After looking on your blog for so long and seeing all of the other brides, I kept thinking to myself that our photos wouldn’t turn out as wonderful as theirs. I never thought of myself as photogenic, but the pictures you took proved otherwise. Adam and I were ecstatic when the pictures came in and after hours of staring at them over and over it finally hit us; you’re worth every penny and more!

We just really wanted you both to know how much we truly appreciate you capturing the greatest day of our lives in the most beautiful way imaginable! We can’t say it enough, thank you! You have a gift and we’re so glad that you were able to share it with us!

Melissa & Adam

So thank you guys - so much - for your kind words. We were so thankful to have been included in your day and can only hope that we were able to capture a fraction of your love for each other!

I’m all sappy now, so I’m going to let the photos do the talking for this one as I go and share their sweet email with my husband:

It’s way past my bedtime and I’m still blogging - so you’ll have to forgive my image selection… I just relooked over my pull for the blog and noticed that they’re always kinda kissy-faced - LOL Oh well, I guess I’m in a kissy mood… Too tired to change it up now - maybe I’ll add some more tomorrow so you can see their FACES and to prove we had them do more than simply suck face ;)

Charles saw this - I think it’s kinda irreverant - I dig it:

It’s funny how quickly you can really connect with someone - we didn’t even meet Jess and Jason until the evening before their St Augustine wedding, but by the end of the wedding night - we felt as if we were a part of the family! It was an emotional day for all - go figure, I cried during the toasts. As it was a destination wedding, they had a smaller group which just added to the close, intimate feel. Truly lovely and it’s always an awesome experience shooting a wedding at the Casa Monica.

Dress Detail - pay attention here. Jessica is an amazing designer and seamstress and actually MADE her own wedding dress. Actually, she made her bridesmaids dresses and her rehearsal dinner dress as well. Talk about crazy talented - she was a fashion design major and is preparing to launch her own line of custom bridal and evening wear. You’ll be hearing more from her, I’m sure!

She wore the dress on the left for the ceremony and then changed into the dress on the right (this is the dress she designed and made) for the reception

Casa Monica

Charles and I had the great privelege of traveling to St Augustine to photograph the nuptials of Jen & Zach at the end of May. The entire wedding was held in Historic Saint Augustine Village in the downtown area - just two blocks from the Casa Monica where the guests were staying. It was such a beautiful, intimate wedding - and it was an honor to be a part of the weekend.

I was just looking back over one of our recent weddings and thinking what an awesome time we had with the couple - Chris and Christy - on their wedding day. The ceremony and reception both took place in Jacksonville, FL at the San Jose Church of Christ and The Haskill Company, respectively. But what was so cool about this wedding and what made it different for me from so many others was what happened AFTER the actual wedding celebrations had ended; the couple invited us to meet them in St. Augustine at the gorgeous Casa Monica Hotel for a post-wedding photo shoot in and around the hotel. Of course we agreed - and we all had a blast! See for yourself:

I really do recommend the post-wedding session to any bride or groom that would like more time to focus on having a fun and artistic photo session with their new spouse. What’s so great about this idea is that we can do the actual shoot anywhere - even at multiple locations. We can have a romantic beach session at sunset, a downtown session with coffee shops and trolleys, or even a colorful session at the county fair - the options are limitless! Also, your attire can be as close or as far from your wedding day look as you want it to be!

We can schedule these a few ways:

- After the wedding session (same day - for those weddings that end earlier in the day)

- Day after session (great for the couple that will be in town the day after the wedding)

- Post-honeymoon session (for the couple that wants more pictures in their wedding attire, but doesn’t want the fuss and muss of a session *right* after the wedding ends)
